Classic Cars of Los Angeles NFT Collection

What’s the next best thing to collecting classic cars? Collecting artwork of your favorites. For me taking photos of classic cars here in L.A. at a local festival some years ago is where my appreciation started and if you’re a lover of automobiles or fine art photography, especially those inspired by our famous west coast car culture, then lucky for you I’ve got a brand new gallery of NFT classic car fine art photography over on Opensea.io to get your collection started. But first, If you’d like to learn more about the value in the exciting new world of NFT’s click here.

L.A. & Hollywood have a long history of classic car appreciation and as a British photographer the ones that have caught my eye here are the ones that are quintessentially LA —–cars you’d bring to the beach or picture cruising along the Venice boardwalk, or on leisurely drives down the Pacific Coast Highway. I’m also talking about styles beyond a convertible or VW type 2’s that are more unique to car culture here like a vintage Chevrolet that would fit right in at a old hamburger joint or 50s drive-in or just show-ponying in a Valley suburb, a vintage woody bearing a special hood ornament like the one below for example.

It also comes down to form. I imagine the same elements that draw the eye of the car aficionado are the same ones that draw the photographer’s eye. For me, chasing down the elements of photography I see in California’s landscapes can also be appreciated in its classic cars: line, color, composition, space, pattern, play a part in creating an eye-catching image. And because of this detail and geometry within car design, I feel more free when I take pictures to experiment with framing, exposure and depth-of-field. It is due to this freedom that I feel very strongly that these images should be displayed in the NFT space, which is why I created this collection.

I’ve held a long appreciation for cars like these. The lines and shapes the designers came up with back then must have appeared somewhat futuristic to the car owners of the day. It is interesting to see how far we’ve come, and as we’ve progressed into the 21st century, what trends since these times have mirrored their designers’ predictions of the future. Juxtaposed to this and due to the permanent nature of the blockchain, I feel that with this technology, (which comes some 50+ years after these cars were first in production), these images will be around (hopefully, if you believe in the blockchain) long after the cars themselves have gone, and also, offer a more permanent record than printing on paper.

And with that I present to you my classic car NFT collection on Opensea, click here - https://opensea.io/collection/classic-cars-of-los-angeles
